Breaking/Latest Ethiopia news: Ethiopian Prime Minister to Visit Sudan

(Oiplatform):- Ethiopian Prime Minister is to visit Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan on May 2, 2018.  The newly elected premier has just returned from Djibouti and today he is visiting Benishangul-Gumuz one of the nine states that formed the federation.

 

 

During his trip to Sudan, the Prime Minister is expected to hold a discussion with President Omer al-Bashir, First Vice-President and Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Salih and Vice-President Hassabo Abdel-Rahman. He is also expected to meet the joint Sudanese-Ethiopian Business Council as reported by Sudan Tribune.

Abiy will also ‘visit a number of development projects in the country’, as per Sudan Tribune.

It is expected that the two leaders will hold discussions on numerous bilateral issues. The issue of the Renaissance hydroelectric power that Ethiopia is building on the Blue Nile is expected to be one of the most important areas to be discussed.

 

Egypt has been accusing the two countries of stalling a negotiation on the issue.
